FANFARE ON THE ROCKS

Fanfare on the Rocks" consists of two ingredients that don't really seem compatible at first glance: a solemn fanfare and a good dose of rock. Can that work? I think so! Because it is undisputed that a fanfare has a certain momentum, a certain "drive". This momentum can be emphasized and strengthened by rock elements. The lyrical "theme", which usually functions as the calm counterpart of a fanfare, is presented here in its classical form in the first part, but is also given a rocky touch in the finale. So that the character of the work does not become brute and monotonous, I have also composed a calm middle section, which forms a welcome haven of relaxation. To summarize, "Fanfare on the Rocks" should give musicians and audiences a lot of joy and fun, but at the same time retain the character of a sophisticated work that requires quite a bit of fine-tuning and allows enough room for interpretation.
