RUF VOM SIMILAUN

RUF VOM SIMILAUN (eng. "Call from Similaun") was commissioned by the tourist association of Schnals and the wind band Musikkapelle Unser Frau / Karthaus. The occasion was several jubilees:
the 125th anniversary of the wind band and the 20th anniversary of the discovery of the world-famous Ötzi, also called "the Iceman", which was found in this region.
The style of this piece is such of a classic opening, starting with a powerful fanfare and lyric counter-theme. To express the alpine character of the region, i incorporated small pieces of traditional-styled signals into this modern work.
